Maykson Cardoso (Independent curator - researcher)

Doctorate student in Visual Arts at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro School of Fine Arts; Master in Studies of Literature, in the area of Hispanic Literatures at the Fluminense Federal University; Undergraduate in Language Studies of Portuguese, Spanish and related Literatures at the Mato Grosso State University. Currently living between Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo. In his doctoral research, “The artist as an archaeologist”, he researches the relation between contemporary art and archaeology - both as science as well as metaphor - in particular from the works of three Latin American artists: Yuri Firmeza (Brazil), Ishmael Randall Weeks (Peru) and Mariana Castillo Deball (Mexico). In addition to being a researcher, he has also been acting as independent critic and curator in visual arts. His interests are, mainly, Literature and Visual Arts; Philosophy, History and Critics of Art and Curating in Visual Arts.
