Daria Ghiu has a master degree in Art History and Theory from the University of Arts in Bucharest. In 2008 she was an art educator at Manifesta 7 in Italy. Since 2007 she is an art journalist for different Romanian cultural magazines and art magazines. She is also a permanent collaborator at the Romanian Cultural Public Radio as a radio author, focusing on the contemporary art scene. Since September 2010 she is a doctoral fellow at the Swiss Institute for Art Research (SIK-ISEA) in Zürich and The University of Arts in Bucharest within the bounds of an international Focus Project on the Venice Biennale (coordinated by professor Beat Wyss). Her dissertation project discusses the cultural representation of the Romanian Pavilion at the Venice Biennale.
