03:23 is a 24 hour film by Mario Santamaría, sequentially focusing on 1 hour, as viewed from publically accessible live-stream web cams in each timezone across the globe. Once one hour is witnessed in a certain timezone, we move to the next zone and experience that hour again. Informed by Douglas Gordon’s 24 Hour Psycho (1993) and Christian Marclay’s The Clock (2010), Santamaría’s 03:23 continues his exploration of surveillance and digital vs. lived time.

The project is presented as an installation for The Conversation at Hangar and also has a web presence. You can catch the final hours of ’03:23’ here: http://mariosantamaria.net/03:23/

The above image pictures Santamaría’s studio during the creation of 03:23, as he mapped each timezone.
