DINGBATS FUCKTORY

by Pedro Luis Cembranos

DINGBATS FUCKTORY consists in six videos made up by the employing thousands of dingbats, TrueType fonts used as ornaments or specific signs in any computer application. The iconic signs that make up the tapes have been transformed and modified to achieve a voluntary incorrect usage, so that they develop concepts of social relevance and allude to matters related to economy, politics, day-to-day life, art or commercial nature. They do so from an ironic point of view, carrying on in their ambiguous messages a load of absurd, paradox, pathos or plain abjection. The video-installation is completed by the edition of a poster that represents the three-hundred and eighty four dingbats that make up the videotapes.
