Curatorial Fellowship at the Spanish Academy at Rome

by Manuela Pedrón Nicolau y Jaime González Cela

Our project for the residency at the Spanish Academy at Rome focuses on the relationship between an art center for production and research and its cultural and urban context. The case of study for this curatorial research was the Academy itself. Our proposal was organized on three parts: a theoretical research, from the institutional critique and new institutionalism theories and practices; a map of Rome, marking interesting spaces dedicated to contemporary culture; and a curatorial program, focused on connecting the artistic research developed within the Academy with professionals and art spaces of Italy and specifically Rome:
- Taller de Mobiliario Urgente, Carlos Granados.
- Estudio 7. Encuentros de ida y vuelta sobre el panorama artístico italiano.
- Parco Falafel, Martín López Lam. Museo della Musica di Bologna / Academia di Belle Arti.
- Memorie Esterne. Cinema Trevi.
- Quaderno di Roma IV. book.
