THE END [just happened]

by Radu Cioca

video installation / 3’ 48" loop / sound / black granite tile / paint / 2010-2013

Project exhibited at ARKEN Museum of Modern Art - HOTSPOT CLUJ - New Romanian Art / Copenhagen (DK)

The animation is a loop of abstract white shapes on a black background, that due to proportions, alignment and direction of movement, creates the impression of the specific line-up of credits at the end of a movie.
It's an experience based on tension and on the state of isolated meditation while amongst others, that you can encounter at the end of a movie projection, right before the lights turn on. A moment between reality and fiction, when we almost borrow from the sensitive experience featured in the movie.
The phrase “The End” functions like a magic spell, it separates fiction from reality, the past from what is about to come. In this installation, we have missed the intoxicating experience itself and only get the afterglow, the indication of who created the illusion.
The lack of the actual movie wants to project this experience on the reality of our times, and our constant fear of change.
