Arnold Reinthaler

Born in 1971 in Austria. Lives and works in Vienna. Studied sculpture at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna (with Bruno Gironcoli) and wrote his cultural theory PhD with Thomas Macho.

Reinthaler’s work addresses systems for measuring time while placing subjective proactivity at the focus of long-lasting work processes that are translated primarily into stone and paper. He modelled on the notion of ‘temporality’ by engraving fleeting letters onto an almost anachronistic medium like granite, or continually tests models of “process results” with techniques of self-recapitulation.
