László Hatházi

After graduating at the Academy of Fine Arts in Budapest in 2003 as a painter, he completed his DLA studies at the University of Pécs in 2009. Between 2008-2011 he was a Derkovits Scholarship Grantee. In 2008 he was supported by Strabag, in 2011 he won the Herczeg Klára Prize together with András Szirtes filmmaker. In his earlier series he painted glasshouses (Botanica Anima), display windows (Under Construction), where he focused on the urban, artificial, abandoned spaces and flora. In his large scale canvases he depicted japanese and chinese motifs, which were collected from his enviroment. Together with Balázs Antal artist they founded the Laci & Balázs artistic collective in 2007, since then they create site-specific installations (The Meeting Room) and organize public art events (Tiger Inaguration). Compared to his earlier works, the visuality of the current artworks has been changed a lot. In these new pieces he uses clear, vivid colours, simplified forms and industrial glaze paint. Recently he has been working on a carbon paper drawing-series (Direct Garden Access) and illustrations.
