Isin Önol

Curator and Writer, Vienna

Between 2006 and 2009 Isin Önol worked as the director and curator at Proje4L/Elgiz Museum of Contemporary Art, Istanbul. Since 2009 she has been residing in Vienna where she works independently and pursues her PhD degree at the Department of Cultural and Intellectual History, University of Applied Arts. In 2012 she co-curated the "Media-Scape 2012, Biennial for Time Based Art", Zagreb, and "Sinopale 2012, 4th International Sinop Biennale", for which she has written the concept text entitled "Wisdom of Shadow: Art in the Era of Corrupted Information".

Her primary research interests are curatorial and artistic occupation with notions of darkness, shadow, invisibility, absence, in generating strategies for participation and transmitting information, as well as the concepts of censorship, discrimination, and otherness in relation to the invisible layers of societies dealing with shadow figures.
