Françoise Vanneraud

Françoise Vanneraud's work focuses on analysing those irrelevant and unimportant things that define our everyday lives.

Her work, which draws on different applications of drawing (animation, mural, installation), gives the secondary a solemnity with hints of the tragicomic that permit us to rethink some universal character traits inherent to human beings, such as doubt, fear, luck or the unceasing search for something better.

To achieve this, she uses a primitive, hieratic, even medieval drawing legacy, based on a symbolist (but not surrealist) imaginary to outline stories featuring solitary protagonists that seem to be waiting for something that never actually happens.

A constant task of expectation and resignation that has a poetic and ironic impact on the myriad moments of insecurity that lie in wait for us as we go about our everyday lives.
