David Barro

Freelance Curator and Editor of DARDO

David Barro (Ferrol, 1974) works as an independent curator and editor of DARDO. Since 1998 he has worked as an art critic for El Cultural (El Mundo) and since 2006 is director of the art magazine DARDO. He is artistic assessor for the Barrie Foundation and also signs responsible for the foundation's collection. David Barro has been artistic director of the art fair Espacio Atlántico (2010) and worked as a professor at the University of Porto (2000-2006). He also worked as an editor for a long row of Spanish art magazines such as [W]art (2003-2005), Arte y Parte (1998-1999), InteresArte (1998-2002) as well as artistic director of the project Look Up! Natural Art Show at Porto (2010) and artistic director of the International Festival of Sustainable Artistic Action SOS 4.8, Murcia (2011).

As a curator he has conducted 35 individual and 33 group exhibitions, featuring artists such as Julian Opie, Caio Reisewitz, Sandra Cinto and Chafes Rui. As editor of DARDO, he has coordinated more than 60 books over the past 5 years, featuring monographies on artists such as Ulrich Rückriem or Jannis Kounellis.
