Christiane Erharter

Christiane Erharter has been a curator and project manager for ERSTE Foundation’s Programme Culture since 2006. ERSTE Foundation has been established in 2003 and is active in Austria and Central and South Eastern Europe. As the main shareholder of Erste Group the foundation develops its own projects within the framework of three programmes: Social Development, Culture and Europe.
Christiane studied art at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna and holds a post-graduate degree in critical studies from the University of Lund, Sweden. She has worked as a curator at the Office for Contemporary Art Norway, Oslo (2002-2005), and at the Galerie im Taxispalais, Innsbruck (2000-2002).
Her projects at ERSTE Foundation include the biennial Igor Zabel Award for Culture and Theory (for outstanding cultural achievements in Central and South Eastern Europe) and the György Kepes Fellowship (joint initiative of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology Program in Art, Culture and Technology, tranzit.org and ERSTE Foundation). Recent exhibitions: AT YOUR SERVICE – ART AND LABOUR (at the Technisches Museum Wien) and “Rosa Arbeit auf goldener Straße” (on queer visual art, at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna).
