Unplace Conference

Curators' Network invited to Unplace Conference about contemporary art in virtual environments

Curators' Network had been invited to participate from 31 of October to 1st of November 2014 at the "Unplace" conference at the Gulbekian Foundation in Lisbon. Organized within the framework of the unplace project, it aims to critically examine the different ways by which museums, artists, curators, conservators and academics are dealing with the different ways by which contemporary art and museums are reconfigured in virtual environments.

Curators' Network was speaking at the conference about their experience with digital databases and the use of digital tools for highlighting the peripheries of the contemporary art world.

In the aftermath of the Conference we were invited to write a paper for the catalogue that resumes the most interesting talks at the conference. We wrote a text about the sense and non-sense of databases, that somehow can be read as a programatic and idealist outlook at the future of Curators' Network.

After an intensive editing process unplace has released the resulting ebook today, June 30, 2015 and we wanted to share it with you.
