New Dictionary of Old Ideas

The New Dictionary of Old Ideas is a network of independent organizations from Central and Eastern Europe. The project has worked for two years on the idea of Central Europe and its current political and cultural situation and its relationship with nationalisms and anti-immigration attitudes.

The leading theme of The New Dictionary of Old Ideas is Central Europe. In the course of centuries this concept has changed many times in its geographic and political dimensions. The main aim of the project is to work on this subject as a response to the current cultural and political situation in Europe, with the strong rise of nationalisms, EU-skepticism and anti-immigration attitudes.

The New Dictionary of Old Ideas was founded as a network by East European partners in 2017. With its expansion the new goal is to take the project to a next level where the issue of local identity is confronted from two diametrically different perspectives - represented by hablarenarte, Spain and Silk Museum, Georgia.

The new program is based on an artistic residency and an itinerant exhibition that will take place from 2019 to 2020, and will try to to build cultural exchange and research processes.

The international partners of the proyect are: MeetFactory (Czech Republic) // Trafostacja Sztuki (Poland) // Silk Museum (Georgia) and hablarenarte (Spain). CentroCentro (Madrid, Spain) is the national partner of hablarenarte.

The two co-curators of the project are Alba Folgado (Spain) and Data Chigholashvili (Georgia).

At European level the New Dictionary of Old Ideas is supported by the Creative Europe Programme of the European Union (EACEA). In Spain it counts with the contribution of the involved partner CentroCentro for the the program part.
