New Dictionary of Old Ideas

Side Projects > International

The leading theme of The New Dictionary of Old Ideas is Central Europe. In the course of the centuries, this concept has changed many times its geographic and political dimensions. The main aim of the project is to work around this topic as a direct response to the current cultural and political situation in Europe, with the strong rise of nationalism, EU-skepticism and anti-immigration attitudes.

The New Dictionary of Old Ideas has been founded as a network by East European partners in 2017. With an expansion of it, the new goal is to take the project to a next level where the topic of local identity is confronted with two diametrically different perspectives - represented by hablarenarte, Spain and Silk Museum, Georgia.

The new programme is based on an artistic and curatorial residency programme and a travelling exhibition running through 2019 and 2020, intending to build process of cultural exchange and intense research.

The international partners of the proyect are: MeetFactory (Czech Republic) // Trafostacja Sztuki (Poland) // Silk Museum (Georgia) and hablarenarte (Spain). hablarenarte's partner on the national level is CentroCentro (Madrid, Spain).

The 2 co-curators of the project are Alba Folgado (Spain) and Data Chigholashvili (Georgia).

The 3 selected residents from Spain are Erik Beltrán, Veronica Lahite and Elena Lavelles. They will stay at MeetFactory (June-July) and Trafostacja Sztuki (August).

Irmina Rusicka (PL), Adela Součková (CZ) and Jiří Žák (CZ) will have a residency at Silk Museum (mid-September - October) and hablarenarte (November - mid-December).

Katharina Stadler (GE), Sandro Sulaberidze (GE) and Nino Zirakashvili (GE) will have a residency at MeetFactory (June-July) and Trafostacja (August).

The New Dictionary of Old Ideas is supported on the European level by the Creative Europe Programme of the European Union (EACEA). For the Spanish part of the programme it counts on the contribution of the involved partner CentroCentro
